substitute eclipse icon
Hi sigasi team,
is it possible to substitute the eclipse icon when using the sigasi hdt plugin for eclipse?
I often use Eclipse IDE for software development and Eclipse with sigasi plugin at the same time. Additionally I open more than one window of each eclipse instance. So I end up with at least two (more often four) exlipse icons in the taskbar.
If "Eclipse with sigasi plugin" would show sigasi icon eclipse instances would be much more distinguishable.
Greets,
Josef

Sigasi icon
Hi Josef,
Why don't you just use one Eclipse for both hardware and software development?
Do you have too many projects? You can use advanced Eclipse features such as Working sets to keep your Eclipse workspace organized.
If you still want to use two Eclipses next to each other, you can do the following: Just rename one of the two eclipse.exe files to hdt.exe. That way they will have different entries in the task bar.
If you run the 32bit Eclipse 3.6.1, you can also overwrite eclipse.exe with the hdt.exe from the stand-alone version. This will also change the icon.

no solution - so far
But the second eclipse-based IDE does not allow to install or becomes instable, if additional plugins are installed. IMHO in this case there is no way to get one Eclipse for both.
To get taskbar entries which are more distinguishable changing the icon seems a good choice.
a bit off topic
I already tried to modify icons embedded in eclipse.exe. This shows the custom icon until workspace launcher starts. Workspace launcher seems to substitute the icon with icon-data from another resource (not eclipse.exe). As Sigasi hdt stand-alone version shows the Sigasi icon you could probably give a hint how to tweak eclipse to show a custom icon.
Change Eclipse Icon
I Googled around and found a similar question on StackOverflow which might slove your problem:
"change icon of eclipse based on workspace chosen".
The guy asking the question wrote an Eclipse plugin for this purpose. It seems a bit complex, though (http://cksachdev.blogspot.com/2009/05/i-use-eclipse-badly.html).
Feel free to give it try.
Hendrik.
