Dekimo uses Sigasi to drastically improve productivity and code quality
Dekimo, a leading independent electronic services supplier in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany, has been using Sigasi for quite some time. We are delighted about that, as customer satisfaction is their most important achievement.

Dekimo’s 450 employees work in offices in Aachen (D), Erpe-Mere, Essen, Gent, Leuven, Louvain-la-Neuve,Turnhout (B), Delft, Eindhoven, Enschede, Goes, Utrecht (NL), Lille and Paris (FR) and we spoke with Yannis Frederickx, Senior Development Engineer at Dekimo in Leuven who said:
Sigasi drastically improved our productivity and code quality, which allowed Dekimo Leuven - Layers nv to rapidly offer top-notch designs to customers which often ask for late changes. This advantage is crucial when working in mission and safety critical applications.
Mr. Frederickx added:
We couldn’t go without Sigasi anymore. We have also tested free alternatives, but we quickly ran into limitations. The error checking in Sigasi is a lot more advanced and faster, which results that you already catch most of the syntax errors before even running synthesis.
The automatic component instantiations, port updates and signal declarations make it a lot easier to create hierarchical designs. This greatly improves the testability and code coverage.
You often start with a few small processes and end up with several large processes which have their specific purposes. With Sigasi it is easy to move these processes into separate components and link them together. And later you have the advantage of having a better overview of what is created when you start looking at your design in the schematic viewer of your IDE. This also makes testing and debugging a lot more efficient.
The refactoring over multiple files in a project makes it effortless to clean up your code and keep it updated. Without this feature, you are often reluctant to update or add port names, certainly when these propagate over multiple components.
The “State Machines” and “Block Diagram” viewers of the Sigasi Visual HDL Professional Edition give the extra advantage of quickly getting an overview of the code, which is especially useful when you have to dig into an existing design.
When asked what would be his final judgment on Sigasi, Mr. Frederickx concluded:
Sigasi is worth every penny, as it pays for itself in what you win in time.
